COOK HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The Cook Hospital Board met. yesterday; present, Messrs H- Kenway

(chairman), R. .Johnston, C. Gibson, H. Decosta, T. B. Spence, H. White, and W. G. Sherratt. Messrs Nolan and Sheet wrote in reference to the cottage hospital site,

Tologa Bay, stating that when the necessary proclamation had been gazetted the issue of a certificate of title for the lands will take place in due course. —The letter was received.

An application for a mirror to be placed on the left-hand side of the driver of the ambulance to view passing traffic and for a spot light to see house numbers in the dark, was referred to the ambulance committee wit'll power to act.

After a discussion on the subject as to whether patients suffering from tuberculosis should be kept in the institution or sent to a samtorium, it was

decided that the matter should be left to the discretion of the Medical Superintendent. It was also resolved uat applicants for a removal to the sanitoriuin should apply to the Board and

the Board would then refer the matter to the Medical Superintendent. Messrs Sherratt, Barns-Graham and the chairman, were appoilited a committee to take any action necessary when the storeman-clerk’s position becomes vacant. On the motion of Air DeCosta, it was decided that before the next meeting a comparative table should be submitted, showing the progress of the estimated maintenance for the past six months, so that me in tiers could know the financial position. T.t was decided that the question of tenders for supplies should be deferred till next meeting.

The .Medical Superintendent’s report for the month of August stated that the number of patients in the wards at the last return was 80. Ninety had been admitted since, 5 had died, and Si had been discharged since, leaving 81 remaining .in the institution at the end of the month- During the month 3 scarlet fever eases, 2 typhoid cases, and 11 other infectious disease cases were admitted. Two scarlet fever cases | 3 typhoid, and 6 other infectious disf ease cases had been discharged, leav- > Mng in the institution at the end of the month 3 scarlet fever, 3 typhoid and 10 other infectious disease cases. J One infectious disease patient had died * during the month. The report of soldier patients in hospital showed that on August 1 there was one patient.
