DRASTIC PROPOSALS.
NEW ILLEGITIMACY RILL. (Received Aug. 10. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 9. A Labor Commoner has introduced an Illegitimacy Bill, proposing drastic amendments to the law, including provision that affiliation application may be made before a. child’s birth, that the maximum weekly maintenance be £2, that a father may be ordered to contribute towards the cost of apprenticeship and special education and that maintenance may be ordered beyond the age of sixteen if the child is physically or mentally deformed, or m the alternative, that a Court may order the payment of a lump sum if a child be legitimized by subsequent marriage of the parents.—A. and N..ZC.A.
