THE FIREARMS ACT
WAIROA, July 28. At the Magistrate’s Court, Stanley Hutchinson!, a storekeeper at Aloliaka, was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm. Defendant proved that he registered at 1 ajmtahi, Gisborne. The prosecution proved that he took the gun to Alojiaka, and, though .advised to get his certificate endorsed, neglected to do so. The Magistrate held the gun unregistered and inflicted a fine of £5 and costs. —P.A.
‘•BETTER PART AT ONCE.” TIMARU, July 28. In a divorce case a decree was granted to a husband on the ground of desertion. The parties belonged to Tiinaru, and both being on a holiday visit to Christchurch, they got married there at a registry office. The husband had to return to Tiinaru the same afternoon, and the wife followed a day or two later. She went to her parents and refused to join her Jiusband. She said that she realised she had made a mistake and they had better part at once than later.—P.A.
