In keeping with its usual policy of screening high Quality films, the management of Everybody’s will this evening present a galaxy of excellent photo-plays. “Neglected Wives’’ is a screen version of ihe celebrated international stage success, “Why Women Sin,” featuring Anno Luther whose brilliant characterisation lends an added cliftrni to tiiis c r oat melodrama. The story has a vital gapping appeal that will never be iorgotten. One cf the many fascinating moments in the big production is furnished bv the Apacnc • Dancers in the Parisian carabat scene. Elaine Hammerstein, who is rapidly establishing herself as one of the mostrefreshing personalities < n the screen, has a splendid role in tus screen adaptation of Mrs Baillie Reynold’s novel “The Daughter Pays which tells how Gaunt Mas been the lover of the g.il’s mother and nad been jilted by that h°ait!ess young woman. In -Iter years becoming wealthy and seeing the young daughter of his former sweetheart Gaunt “buys” the girl in marriage. |to avenge himself on her for her mother’s heartlessness in their 1 youth. The picture story follows the I lines of Mrs Reynold’s novel, and al- ! though the ending is unusual it carj ries with it ’ a big lesson —and the picture will undoubtedly appeal very \ strongly to all classes of picture goers, and especially to those who sofething of the difficulties of the i modern married life.
