HEAVY DAMAGE IN N.S.W. KEMPSEY SWEPT BY FLOOD WATERS. “A TRAIL OF DESOLATION.” SYDNEY. July 27. The receding Hood waters in the northern rivers have left a trail of desolation It is. estimated that the losses along the Tweed river alone, including large numbers of cattle and pigs, amount to a quarter of a million sterling. The town of Kempsev was swept by ■ the Hood waters, and damage to the extent of £25,000 was done. The, floods in the north-western rivers continue to rise.
Bourke, Louth, and other townships are threatened with inundation.— LT.P.A.
