U.S. CUSTOMS DUTIES.
NEW PROTECTIVE .RATES
MUTTON AND WOOL AFFECTED
(Received December 20, 9.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 20.
The Ways and Means Committee have agreed to protective rates which arc to ho embodied in a Bill to be presented on Tuesday. The principal duties are: —Thirty cents a bushel on wheat; 15 cents a pound on wool in the grease; 20 cents skirted wool; II cents per pound on mutton and lamb; 30 per cent ad valorem on cattle; 20 per cent ad valorem on flour; 15 cents a bushel on corn; 1 dollar a head on sheep under one year old, and 20 cents a gallon on soya bean oil.—A. and N.Z.
