RACING' CONFERENCE DISMISSES I; NGITTKEI APPEAL.
WELLINGTON, July 19. The Racing Conference judges dismissed flic appeal by the Eangitikei Racing Csjub against the decision of the Wanganu] District Committee that the Rangjtikei stewards made an error of judgment in debarring the horses Yankee .Tack and Hautawa from starting in the Maiden Hack race at the Rangiiikei club’s meeting on the 20th March, 1920. The race was a hack race within the I meaning of rule 1 of part 11., and the following'words in rule 2. therefore apr ply: “The amount won by any horse in a flat race, hurdle race, or steeplechase respectively shall be estimated separately, and shall not debar such horse from entry, except in the special class of race in which he has won the amount.” The judges hold that being a flat race it follows that any stakes won in a hurdle race cannot he taken into account. — r.A.
