The weekly sale of the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association was held at Matawhero yesterday, when there was a fair attendance of bidders. Bidding was decidedly bricker than it had been of late, and there was an advance of about Is 6d per head on fat sheep. This was probably due to the opening of mo freezing works and the recent rains. Forty-six head of fat cattle were yarded, and bidding was fair, but it did not reach the vendors’ idea of value. A lino of 30 good Shorthorn-cross bullocks were offered, and reached £22 10s, but the vendors’ reserve was £23. Twenty-seven pigs were offered, and met with a ready sale at full market values. Four thousand .store sheep were offered, and any showing up in condition were readily sold. Eighty head of store cattle were yarded, but (hey failed to find purchasers at the resrerves fixed, which were somewhat higher than last week, owing to the welcome rainfall.
