POLICE PROMISE ASSISTANCE
(Received Dee. 2. 9.55 p.m.) BRISBANE. Dec. 2.
There was a riot at Charleville, where a band of returned soldiers decided to clear the town of undesirables. In many conflicts with the police seveial men were injured. Further bloodshed was avoided by the police promising to clear the town. All the hotels are closed. —United Press Assn.
