AUCKLAND, Dec. 1. Ninety-seven cases of influenza were notified in the Auckland Health District during the week ended noon to-day, together with twenty cases of pneumonia. For the forty-eight hours ended noon to-day twenty 7 cases of influenza were notified, twelve being in the city, also six cases of pneumonia including three Natives in the Bay of Plenty.

Federal quarantine authorities, commenting upon the New Zealand health authorities’ cable that the outbreak of influenza is of a mild nature, deprecate a recrudescence, and say there is no reason for assuming another serious outbreak here next year.—United Press Assn.

In the Arbitration Court to-day, his Honor Mr Justice Stringer made a pronouncement in respect to an additional bonus to he granted on the report of the Government Statistician in regard to the cost of living and the increase in prices. His Honor stated that the bonus had been estimated at one penny an hour in addition to 2M an hour already granted, making 31 d an hour in all for workers paid by the hour. Eor workers paid by the week, the additional bonus would amount to 4s a week extra. The bonus will be made due from January 1 next, and as there is no machinery to make the awarding of it automatic, and it would take some time to hear all applications, the award would be made retrospective to January 1, 1920, in each case. As it will be necessary to take each case on its merits, a formal application must be filed by all unions wishing to take advantage of the provision.
REPATRIATION COMMISSION’S MOVE.
SUSTENANCE ALLOWANCE INCREASED FIVE SHILLINGS.

The Minister of" Repatriation has announced that in view of the increased cost of living, the Repatriation Commission is raising the sustenance allowance by five shillings weekly, where the total allowance is now under £3 2s 6d weekly. A slightly smaller increase will be made where the income exceeds that amount.—United Press Association.
BASIC WAGE IN AUSTRALIA
COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE IMMEDIATELY.
