r.s.a proposals fo ray a r led TO FARMERS’ UNION.

DISSATISFACTION OVER LAND SETTLEMENT MACHINERY.

The executive of the Poverty Bay Sub-Provincial Branch of the New Zealand Farmers; Union received a letter from the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, enclosing a copy of the report of the Lands Committee, as adopted by the recent conference of the R.S.A. in Christchurch. It indicated that the ieport proposes certain machinery for the acquisition of land forjdie settlement of returned soldiers and for the administration of the Discharged Soldier Settlement Act. Ihe Association it is stated, has invest."atec the whole position in great detail and is convinced that the ordina.-v machinery of land settlement i 5 inadequate for dealing with the special conditions created by the war. As a certain amount of difficulty was expected in securing the adoption of the yepoi by the Government, the Association would appreciate any support gu'cri to the scheme and would be gmu to. know of any criticism of the scheme lor suggestions which tho Farmers Union would care to offer. The letter will come up for consideration at next meeting of the executive of the Farmers’ Union.
