PROPOSAL FOR INCREASE IN SALARIES.
Press Association Telegram. - WELLINGTON, July 28. The Wellington branch of the Edpcational Institute to-night passed a resolution that every teacher shoulu receive, besides his fixed salary, an increase equal to the increase m the cost of living, this increase to take effect from 1914. The Institute decided to “support the Canterbury branch in asking that a weekly attendance should he substituted for an average attenffancp in hxmg the grades of primary schools. Teachers urged that schools ought to be graded and staffed on their roll without caused by bad weather or any regard to fluctuations m attendance factor.
