WELLINGTON TRAMWAY MEN’S AGREEMENT. Press Association Telegram. WELLINGTON, October 15. The agreement with the Tramway Employees’ Union was ratified by the City Council yesterday afternoon. It provides for an increase of 11s a week to the flat rate in the existing schedule for motormen and conductors. with the exception of those in the higher grades who receive an increase of 10s per week. The existing bonus is wiped out. The overtime rate is increased a penny per hour. Men outside the traffic department receive an increase of l)d an hour, with 5 per cent bonus added. CHURCH UNITY. WELLINGTON. October 15. The Baptist Conference passed' a resolution expressing gladness at the proposals for the reunion, of certain evangelical churches being eyeiywhere received with favour, and intimating that the union desired that some basis might be found that would make the inclusion of the Baptist Church possible, expressing willingness to enter into negotiations, and the conference further expressed a determination meantime to avoid any unseemly competition with . other evangelic churches m districts already sufficiently churched., and trusted that some definite understanding might be reached. ■.
