FOUND DROWNED
Press Association TelegramAUCKLAND. Sept. 2. The dead body of Phil ip A. E. Sydney, aged 19, was found in Alaliukau harbor. He is believed to be a farm laborer and had boon missing since August 22.
FARMER CUTS HIS THROAT
MARTON, Sept. 2
A Alarton farmer, Frank Poppe, aged 34 years, cut his throat on Saturday afternoon. He leaves a widow and four children. At an inquest yesterday a verdict was returned that it was a case of suicide due to mental depression through alcoholic indulgence.
FATAL GIG AIISHAP. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 2. A girl named Rita Robson, agod 17 years, was knocked down on Saturday by a horse and gig driven by William C. McKenna, stock agent. She was taken to tho hospital, where she died yesterday.
KILLED WHILE CYCLING
TIAIARTT, Sept. 2
Janies Marshall, aged 18 years, whose mother resides at Claremont, 'was killed on Saturday night. While cycling into Timaru he collided with a' trap. The shaft struck him on the chest, and lie died immediately. s A AIOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT. ’ TIMARU, Sept. 2. Charles Brehaut, when riding a motor cycle, collided with a motor car, and had his leg broken. A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE.
WESTPORT. Sept. 2. An apprentice, Charles Levy, got tangled in the belting at Riley’s foundry and had a miraculous escape from death.
PLASTERER FATALLY STABS HIMSELF.
AUCKLAND. Sept. 2, Herbert Edward Taylor, aged 49 years, imprisoned for assaulting his wife, stabbed himself in the chest with a plasterer’s trowel. The wound was attended to.. The man was found to he suffering from mania, and was removed to a mental hospital, wherehe died.
