THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE

Mr. Hughes and Mr. Cook attended the Imperial Conference. Mr. Long welcomed them. The former’s health is improving, though lie is unlikely for a few days to participate in functions outside the .Conference and Cabinet. It is understood that there is some chance of the Conference s proceedings receiving better publicity _ than last year’s and probably a precis ot subjects not affecting the war will oe issued at regular intervals. . The Lord Mayor will entertain the Dominion Ministers on July 1. Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward visited the New Zealand hospitals at Walton and addressed the men. They were greatly interested in the work among the limbless patients. Sir Joseph Ward pledged New Zealand to look after those temporarily or permanently disabled. MESSAGE FROM THE KING. The Press Bureau states that the second meeting of the Imperial War Conference was held on toe,morning of June 17. There was a full, attendance,. including representatives of Australia and India. The Cotnerence includes for the first tune representatives of all the Dominions and India and is more completely representative of the Empire -than any previous conference.
