MAORI RESERVISTS IN TROUBLE. (Press Association Telegram.) AUCKLAND, June 17. Six Maori reservests were arrested at Mercer on Saturday for failing to parade for medical examination and with the seven previously arrested they have been medically examined, ten being passed as fit. INVERCARGILL, June 17A fire this morning in a two-story brick block in Tay Street, starting in Mrs Challis’s fruit shop; -spread on the top floor to the United Friendly Society’s premises, Lethaby s Umbrella maker, and Ayson s giocerj., Challis’s and .'Lethaby’s shops were completely destroyed, and the other premises seriously damaged. -Q 1 ® insurances on the buildings total £2050, and on the stocks: Friendly Society £IOOO, Ayson £B(S and the others for smaller amounts.
