Colonel T. W. Porter. C. 8., accompanied by Mrs Porter, arrives from north by the Arahura this morning.
Hr F. H. Bedford, of Gisborne, has received advice that his brother. Private A. H. Bedford, who is with the Canadians, has lost his- left eye and sustained a number of other injuries, the most serious being close to the left knee.
Lieut-Colonel L. G. Sleeman, I.G-S. Director of Military Training, is expected to arrive in Gisborne by the Arahura to-dav. He will conduct . a course of instruction for territorial and senior cadet officers.
‘ Mr M. S. McKinnon, of the local office of the’A.M.P. Society, who left 'bv Sunday’s steamer to enter the Soekburn Flying School, was presented on Saturday by the local manager (Mr J. C. E. Kisslmg). on behalf of the staff, with a folding kodak as a memento of his connection with the Office.
Reporting to the Waikohu County Council on Friday, the County Overseer stated:— Generally speaking the roads throughout the County are m wood order for this season ot the vear. most of them being , open to motor traffic.
