The Treasury Committee reports, that the possible dangers from further large bank amalgamations outweigh the arguments against Government interference, and some measn e of Government control is essential The committee recommends legislation requiring the Government’s approval to be obtained prior to r..v amalgamation, or for the purer me of another bank’s shares.
