LONDON AIR RAID.
MANY BOMBS DROPPED. FOUR ENEMY MACHINES DOWNED. RAID ON A LARGE SCALE. Australian and N.Z. Gable Association and Iteuter’s. ... LONDON, * May 20. T The Press Bureau "states: Hostile aircraft crossed the coasts of' Kent -anj Essex at 11 o’clock in the evening of Sunday, going to London. Four of the aeroplanes were brought down. The raid appears to have been on a large scale. A considerable .number of bombs were dropped.
THE CASUALTIES.
Australian and N.Z. Oable Association and Reuter’s. (Received May 21, 8 p.m.) - LONDON, May 20. The Press Bureau announces that the casualties in the air raid in the London district are:—Killed 173 men, 14 women, .and 6 children; injured 83 men. .49 women, andl 23 children. In the provinces non© were killed, and two. men, three women, and one. child were injured. Considerable damage was done to house property.
FALLING GOTHAS.
GUNFIRE WORRIES RAIDERS. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received May 21, 8 p.m.) LONDON, May 20. Gunfire everywhere badly harrass'ed the air raiders. Two Gothas falling in masses of flames presented weird spectacles. All the occupants of one jumped out and were killed 1 .
