Action lias been taken at Christchurch in respect of a rather unusual alleged breach of the War Regulation which makes it an offence tor any person to issue, or to be concerned in the issue, of process ot execution against the property ol soldiers without the previous consent in writing of the Attorney-General. The alleged circumstances are that a certain Class A, Second Division reservist, selected by lot for service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force by the ballot gazetted on November 6th, 1917, was sued for debt in the Magistrate’s Court and confessed judgment.. The plaintiffs then, it' is alleged, wrongfully applied’' for and wrongfully . obtained leave to issue immediate execution against the defendant’s property-, defendant then being, and continuing, a soldier within the meaning of the regulation, and the consent of the Attorney-General not having been obtained.
