THE WEATHER.
Mr. Bates reports that indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale and changeable. Squally conditions and rain are probable generally and heavy rain with river rising on west coast and .southernmost districts of the South Island, with snow on the higher levels.. The barometer is unsteady and falling further; especially in the south.
