A case against Lonis J. Ornsteiii, charged with keeping liquor for sale, and giving- an order for liquor without notifying the vendor that it was going into a no-license district, was heard at Taumariinui last week. • Mr Shortland said accused was a Vanning man, and raced under the name of ‘•'Sinclair.’’ He alternated the names of “Ofostein” and “Sinclair” in ordering liquor to cover the suspicion of merchants. All the liquor was got in for distribution among friends, who paid cash before the liquor was sent for. Defendant notified the Clerk of the Coui't, at Auckland before returning to Taumaruuui. Defendant was not a drinking man, but liked good company. He was hard working, and earned good money.
