GISBORNE SAVAGE CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. Last night the annual meeting of the Gisborne Savage Club was held) Mr G Stock, in the absence of Mr. A H. Wallis, presiding. There was a "o-ood attendance of members.' Mention was made in the annual report of the following -.—Finance: The balance-sheet shows a surplus of assets of £9l Is 8d over liabilities. Korero: The usual high stanuarcl of programmes was kept up by the respective committees appointed by the executive to arrange same. During the 1915 season two special “bon voyage” korero.s were held at the Scottish Hall, one being a ladies’ night. About 110 departing recruits attended No. 1 and about 60 No. 2. A special valedictory korero was held after the end of the season to bid farewell to Savage F. ’ Parker, who was leaving, having been transferred to Dunedin. Thanks are due from the executive to the various chairmen, performers, and sub-committees for the excellent entertainments supplied, which were, fully appreciated by the : members ■who attended. 1916: No season was hold in that year, but one j korero was held. The reason for this ] was on account of the production of | “San Toy,” which resulted in over £6OO being paid over to the patriotic funds from that venture. Orchestra: The high efficiency of the club’s orchestra was successfully maintained during the season by Savage M. L. Foster, .with the support of Savage C. Wood (leader;) and the other members. Savage M. L. Foster is to be congratulated on his untiring efforts, which, to a big extent, assisted in making the /koreros such a success, and which were so keenly appreciated by the members. Soldier members: There are at present on active service about 40 members of the club, all of whom are being kept on the books as financial members during their term of service. Patriotic funds: The club lias raised considerably over £2500 for the patriotic funds from entertainments, provided by the members and others who assisted. Conclusion: Tho thanks of the club are due to v Mr C, W. Muir, who has acted as lion. treasurer for the past two seasons; Mr. Paul Hockley, hon. accompanist, j members of the orchestra., and members who performed at tile lcoreros.
