MAT AAV HERO STOCK SALE. The attendance at the Matawhero stock sale yesterday was very small, and little Business was done. Uniy 31 fat sheep were offered, and these were, all owes. There was no diffientity in disposing of the lot at 275,* and 28s. Twelve head o jat cattle were penned. Cows (b.Jit) made £9 12s 6d £lO 2s.Gd, and £ll 12. j 6d. A fine hue or eight bullocks were passed at £l7 17s Gd Iho entries of store sheep totalled J4oU, comprising 2694 ewes, JOS w/.thers, and 348 hoggets. The average qualitv was poor, and a largo percentage were old owes. . Little interest was taken in the .sale, and prices showed a further decline. The heavy frosts of late have checked the growth ot pastures, and farmers have appaientiv gone as far as they are prepared to go in stocking for the winter months. Empty two-tooth ewes made 225, two-tooths (mixed sexes) brought from lC.s to 235, foivvaid ewes 16s Gd, empty owes (old) from Gs to 9s 9d, and sound-mouth ewes m lamb 12s to 12s Bd. AVit-h the exception of one line of 68, which were passed at 15s, all the hoggets offered were sold at auction, but, prices were in all cases low. The sales made included 8 at 10s Gd, 7 at 2s Gd, 6G at 10s Gd, 80 at 6s, 98 at 11s, and 21 at Ss. The bulk of the wethers also found buyers, the, prices paid being 20s, 29s Gd. and 335. There-was little demand for store cattle of the quality offered the prices asked. and passings were the rule. AA'ith the steers the sales were limited to two yearlings, which brought £4 10s each. A cow with a calf made £8 ss, and a cow in profit £8 2s 6d. Eighteen months heifers brought £7 ss. Four bacon pigs were sold at £3 17s Gd each.
