At the Ormond Hall last night a social and dance was tendered to Privates James and Walter Proudfoot, two brothers who are up on final leave. The people' of Ormond turned out in full force, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. During a pleasant interval Mr. W. Tucker took the opportunity of presenting each of the two soldiers with a silver cigarette case, and, in a short speech, wished them the best of luck. Pri-‘ vate James Proudfoot ' suitably responded on behalf of himself .and hi& brother. The thanks of the organisers of the' function are due to the ladies who. provided supper, to those who supplied the ; dance music,, and also to Mr, JJ F. Pettie; who kindly /gave, the use of the hall free; of charge. .
