MEDICAL BOARD.
GISBORNE EXAMINATIONS LAST NIGHT. The District Medical Board is nothing if not active, and promises to setup a record for continual motion in tne near future. The members of the Board left Napier by motor car at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, and reached Wairoa five hours later. They were immediately at work, and examined 42 men, of whom 26 were passed as fit for active service. After a brief respite the Board continued its journey to Gisborne, leaving Wairoa at 2.30 yesterday afternoon. The roads were in bad order for motoring, and the trip was the reverse of pleasant. Gisborne was reached at 7.45 p.m., and the Board got to work at the Garrison Hall a little later, and continued operations until after 1 o’clock this morning. Thirty-one men were put through, 15 being passed as fit for active service, 10 being relegated to home service, and six discharged as unfit.
The Board will sit all day to-day, and will leave for Napier again by car to-morrow morning. Owing to a new regulation we are unable in the meantime to publish the names of the men passed as fit. A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that Second-Lieute-nant W. E. Moore, of Auckland, has been awarded the Military Cross,
