THURSDAY COMPETITION. Cricketers were favored by the weather yesterday afternoon- for. the continuation' of the Thursday competition. The unfinished match v between United and Kia Kaha stood in a very interesting position, •both teams scoring 58 runs in the first innings, arid United, in thensecond . innings, wore 50 runs on without the loss of a single wicket* Sandal (13) and Temperton (36), who were not out from the previous day, resumed their innings. Both men got going in good style and carried the score along to 98, when Temperton fell to Hogan off T. Scholium for 56. Sandal was joined by Kissling, arid the-pair carried the score to 14U, when Kissling was clean bowled by Scholium. Sandal, who had played a very steady game, had the misfortune to bo bowled by Scholium just before it was decided to declare for 176, his total being 69. Scholium and Harvey were most successful with the ball, taking four for 37 and four for 30 respectively. With three men short Kia Kaha went to the wickets at 5.30, with 17/ runs required to win or to play ;mt time to make a drawn match. The latter was accomplished, and when time was called they had only one wicket to fall. Molding with two for 22 and Kissling three for 17 were tho most .successful trundler# for United.
