DRAWN IN THE BALLOT.
AUCKLAND DEFAULTER IN TROUBLE. (Press Association Telegram.! AUCKLAND, Feb. 15. Golden Baldwin (35) was brought before Mr. Cutten. S.M.. this morning'on a charge that he published a statement indicating disloyalty. Baldwin entered a plea of guilty. . Mr. McMahon stated that Baldwin made no response to a telegram from the Defence Department informing him that he had been drawn m the ballot and calling on him to submit himself for medical examination, and consequently a constable went to _ his camp to bring him in for examination. Baldwin made use of disloyal language, stating that , he would be a fool to go to the front, and they were all fools that went to the front ” Accused had a brother at the front, and was himself a single man. He had been living a lonely life on the gumfields for years. Baldwin said he was angry at the time, but immediately after vas sorry for, what he had said. His "Worship stated that the case was different from the usual charge of the kindT and that there was no question of endeavor to influence other people.
