THE WATERSIDE TROUBLE
THE POSITION AT GISBORNE. MEN TO WORK UNDER USUAL CONDITIONS. UNTIL FINAL SETTLEMENT IS REACHED. A favorable change occurred yesterday in the position of affairs so far as' the l’oeal watersiders are concerned, the men agreeing to work under the conditions prevailing before the dispute arose, with the exception of the hours of engagement, which was settled by the Disputes .Committee. The decision was the result'' of a meeting of the union yesterday morning, when a request to resume under normal conditions was received, and it was unanimously decided to resume work on the terms -stated above. ARAHURA TO RESUME ORDINARY SERVICE. On account the rough weather last night, the Arahura’s time-table is altered for this week-end, and she will not now make the usual Sunday trip to Napier. 'The vessel left Tokomaru Bay x at 1 o’clock, and arrived here early in the evening. It was found impossible, owing to the big seas in the bay, to work her last night. Consequently she will be held here until all her cargo for Gisborne lias been lightered. and will sail to-day or Saturday for Auckland.. The Araliura is timed to leave Auckland again on Monday, leaving here on Tuesday evening for Napier. She will then take up her usual running, leaving Gisborne next Thursday for Auckland. From Tuesday next it is hoped to observe the usual time-table as far as the Araliura is concerned.
