PAWNED HIS WOODEN ARM.
A man who gave his name as Henry j Waite entered a Chicago pawnshop j and unscrewed his false arm at the j shoulder. > “I’m broke qnd need money right ; away,” lie said, as he laid the member !on the glass showcase. “What’ll you J give me on that arm?” j The clerk fairly choked in his amaJ zement. , [ “Wliy, we don’t—now-—deal in such j things here,” lie said. “This ain’t a i dime museum, you know. Suppose you don’t come back—how could I get my j money back on that arm ” j “On the other hand,” said Waite, ! “how d’ye suppose I could get along J without it? It’s a cinch i'll come J hack and redeem it.” The clerk couldn’t see tile force of the argument, however, and refused to make the loan.
