BEST SHILLING'S WORTH EVER OFFERED. 1 lie drawing for tlie Poverty Bay and East Coast art union, which i., being run under the auspices of the Citizens’ Defence Committee, is to take place at the Garrison Hall, Gisborne, on the 31st .March next, under the supervision of a specially selected committee to bo appointed. . There are 24 prizes valued at £123-5. | the first prize being a Dodge motor I car valued at £370, which has been ! kindly donated by Messrs. Barker Bros. The. second prize is a section of land (freehold), donated by the Hon. Ca.pt. Tucker, valued at £250; third prize, 150 sheep; fourth, 100 sheep; fifth, 75 sheep; sixth, 60 sheep; seventh, 50 sheep; eighth, 40 sheep: ninth, 30 sheep; tenth, 25 sheep; eleventh, pair of horses valued at £25, donated by Mr. Jex-Blake: twelfth, 20 sheep; thirteenth, set of carpenter’s tool s valued at £2O, and j donated by Mr. F. One pound and £5 tickets have been ; issued, containing the equivalent to 20 and 100 Is tickets respectively. It is possible for one ticket to win all the prizes, as the winning numbers, when drawn, will be returned to the barrel and have another chance to be drawn again. This art union should be patronise:! from another standpoint than that of chance, as the total proceeds, less postage, printing and advertising, will lie devoted to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. .
