MUNITIONS WORKS DESTROYED SPONTANEOUS~COMBU STION THEORY. (Reuter’s Telegrams.) NEW YORK. Feb. 11. The machine shop of the Union Switch Signal Company, the largest plant for manufacturing switch signals in the United States, recently engaged on European orders, has been destroyed bv fire. The damage is eight hundred thousand pounds sterling. The fife is believed to have occurred through spontaneous combustion. Frozen pipes prevented the water' supply being used for halt an hour. Two thousand shells were destroyed. ■
