No shortage cf competent plumbers is reported in Christchurch at present and every man with a 'Ticket'’ is in employment. Some big jobs that will be put in hand soon may alter the positions of affairs. In Wellington it is reported l that there is a scarcity of competent workmen. The Napier Harbor Board has decided to discontinue the system ox paying excess wages to employees who enlist, and in future to establish a fund by monthly payments, such fund to' be administered for the -oemfit of the men on their return or their dependents.
