After rain on Friday night the weather cleared beautifully for the Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting on Saturday. Trial Stakes. —1 Silent Way (Stort) 1,2 Melford 2, 11 Sir Malt 3. Also started: 7 Don Francisco, 6 First Belle, 12 Horahiki, 3 Multoe, 8 Deltonio, 5 Fiery Cross, 10 Rigo, 9 Te Anau, 4 Winghorn. Won by a length, Sir Malt about four lengths back third. Time 1.30 3-5.

Hornby Welter Handicap.—6 Gold Coin (H. Lowe)!, 5 Multum in Parvd 2,2 Slogan 3. Also started: 1 Ringform, 4 Fabrikoff, 7 Briar Patch, 3 Snapdragon, 8 Glenowai. Won by half a length, Slogan a length and n half away third. Time, 1.44 4-5. Middle Bark Plate. —5 Good Hope (H. Young) 1, 4 Killena 2,2 The Toff 3. Good Hope kept his position, and won by a length from Killena, who had a great battle with The Toff for second place, the filly having only a head in her favor at the post. When the straight was reached Jeanotte headed Roumania, but at the distance .Bee put in a claim, only to be challenged by United Service.
