13th REINFORCEMENTS.

MAKE DAYLIGHT TRIP TO NAPIER.

Gisborne’s quota towards the 13th Reinforcements, some 68 strong, left for Napier at 6 o’clock yesterday morning, to make a daylight trip in the s.s. Mako. The men were, in charge of Messrs. Porter, Nesbitt, and Bell, who are proceeding to camp as probationary non-commissioned officers for the 15th Reinforcements, and they were all in excellent spirits. Despite the early hour there was a good crowd to see them off. The men paraded at the Garrison Hall on Saturday afternoon, when their papers were fixed up, and final instructions were given them. The ladies’ committee also handed out the usual kits and badges, which have been so much appreciated by past drafts. At 5 o’clock yesterday, morning the men again paraded at the Garrison Hall, preparatory to marching to the wharf. At 5.30 the National Reserve, under Lieuts. __ Fenwick and de Costa, numbering 45, fell in at the Garrison Hall, and with the City Band marched with the men to the wharf, to give them a hearty send-off. The inspiring strains of the band were heard far and wide on the clear earlv morning air, and about 500 of the” public lined the route of march, and assembled at the wharf, where further airs were given. “Auld Lang Syne” was the final au r<:-voir as the 13th Reinforcements sailed away in the small steamer.
