PERSONAL NOTES.
The Muriel Starr Company left for Auckland by the s.s. Tarawera on Saturday. Miss Starr and W. Millward were both at the races during the afternoon, and they just got back in time to catch the launch for the Tarawera. The company opens in Auckland this evening. Mr. M. T. Hodgkins, chairman of the Pahiatua County Council, and the other members of 'that local body, who have been visiting Gisborne to inspect road r making plant here, left by motor for Napier on Saturday. They had intended returning earlier by boat, but the lack of transport made it necessary for them to go by car. Aiey stated before leaving that they were surprised Gisborne had for so lon : been content with the present uncer. in shipping facilities.
