'jibe Gishorne Racing Club must feel thoroughly satisfied with the splendid response of owners in making the first day’s acceptances. The fields average a dozen, whilst the largest number of acceptances for one race is 16, and tlm smallest 10. A tribute to Mr H. Coyle’s handicapping is shown by tho fact thqt only ten horses originally nominated have dropped out. A “"special attraction is the number of outside horses that have paid up and will visit the meeting. ’ With fine weather the 1915 Winter Alecting will be a record for the Gisborne Racing Club. Grey King looks like starting ac a very short price in the Park Hurdles, in which he has 10.12 allotted him. He is coupled with everything in tho doubles, and local punters will not hear of his defeat. 'The grey has not had a race since October, when ho ran very badly at Makaraka. Since then he has had a spell, which lias improved the Strowan gelding a lot, but not having had a race for so long may find him out in a fast run two miles with his more seasoned opponents. A little liorso that is going very well at present is Multione, who is in the Maiden, and Olive lias him very well. The Multifid horse ran second to Palstone’at Makaraka at the February meeting. Six horses hare already arrived From Auckland, and a further batch will arrive on Sunday. Tho Ripplo will also bring all the Southern horses from Napier on Sunday morning. The tracks at the Park course, are heavy on account of the rain, and easy tasks have been the chief work done. Ormoloid returned from South on Wednesday after competing at the Hawke’s Bay Meeting. The gelding did not run too well, and was not kept for the Napier Meeting. Many of the trainers liavo preferred to work their charges on tlio splendid Waikana-o Beach.
