MOTOR SMASH AT ORMOND
CAR PLUNGES INTO DITCH. A' LUCKY ESCAPE. A nasty motor car accident occurred opposite Bruce's, gate, about half a mile on the town side of Ormond, about o o'clock last night. Air E. Austin, taxi-car driver, was bringing four Natives into town, and when coining down the rise be met a man driving a loose horse. In attempting to pass the horse the driver of the car got too close to the side of the road, and. the next thing they knew the car had overturned, and plunged down into the ditch. By a miracle all the occupants escaped serious injury, though they all sutained bruises and flesh wounds, and had their clothing considerably tom about. Medical aid was summoned from town, and Dr Collins was 'promptly in attendance and attended to the injured motorists. The driver had his hand injured and one of the others was suffering from the effects of a blow in the stomach. After being attended to the party were conveyed to a private hospital, where them injuries were attended to. and afterwards all were able to return to their homes. The car was very badly smashed about, the rear wheels being torn off. and the hood, screen and mud-guards sp’intered to atoms.
