MR ATMORE AT NAPIER. [PRESS ASSOCIATION fELEGRAM.J NAPIER, March 9. Mr H. Atm ore, MP. for Nelson, delivered a political address before about 700 people in the Municipal Theatre to-night. - H i The Mayor (Mr J, Vigor Brown), M.P., presided. The address was principally a criticism of the policy-af the present Government. , , . j At the close the following, resolution was carried: “That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mr Atmore for his able and convincing address, and, further, that in view of the Massey Government having repealed the Second Ballot Act which, allowed of any number of candidates holding similar political views going to the poll without endangering the loss of the seat to a candidate holding the opposite views, it is imperative, in theopinion of this meeting, that there shall be no splitting of votes at the next general election, but that all parties shall stand together to put out the Massey Government, and further, that this meeting has every confidence in Sir Joseph Ward as leader of the Progressive Liberal Party.” >

SPEECHES AT KAIAPOI. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TEX.KGB 4.M3 CHRISTCHURCH, March 9. Messrs J... Witty and G. W. Forbes, M,s.P.. addressed a well attended meeting at Kaiapoi to-night and replied to the speech made there recently by Hon Mr Fisher. Mr Witty made a strong personal attack on Mr Fisher, and Mr Forbes, in the course of his remarks, stated that every effort, was being made by the Government to prevent the public.using the Public Trust Office on reasonable terms. , Both speakers were accorded votes of thanks.

Mil FRASER AT CROMWELL. [PRESS ASSOCIATION "^GEGRAMJ CROMWELL, March 9. Hon. W. Fraser addressed a. meeting to-night on railway and irrigation matters. He said it was probable that a line connecting Clyde and Cromwell, tance of 13 miles, would -be completed within the next three years. He touched on very few matters outside these subjects. He regretted that Mr Russell, speaking at Linwood,- had repeated the error made by Sir Joseph Ward at Winton and actually corrected by him at Dunedin in regard to the increase in taxation per head unedr the present taxation per head under the present Government.
