An interesting shipping deal is reported by the London “Shipping Gazette” of August 15. The Italian steamer Anapo, formerly the Port Henderson, has been sold for about £22.500. She is of 5167 tons erross and 3014 tons net register, and was built at Dumbarton in 1884, with dimensions 439.6 ft by 46.3 ft by 28.9 ft. Her boilers were removed in 1906. When launched the vessel Was known as the Arawa. Another change in nomenclature made her the Lake Megantic, and by yet a further change she became the Port Henderson. Following this the ship was known as the Anapo, and another change of ownership has resulted in her being given the name of Porto Said, q’his vessel, which has had a long and interesting career,, was one of the first passenger steamers' built for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company for the mail service between New Zealand and London. She was a handsome vessel, and was a great favorite amongst travellers. ine old Arawa ran in this trade for vears. until she was replaced by larger and more modern ships. There is a very fine model of the Arawa in the Cantcbury museum.
