In an ' indiscreet monient he left some valuable diplomatic papers in the lady’s possession while he entered a rest hospital. If the papeis had been disclosed it meant that war must follow. . The secretary to the Minister and then the Premier called unsuccessfully upon the lady, who held tight till invited to tea at Buckingham Palace, when, in the presence of a third party, the affability of the King accomplished in 15 miiiutes what had cost the entire Cabinet three weeks of worry and diplomatic funk.
