A pleasant evening may bo expected at the Cosmopolitan Club, on Thursday evening, when the Yorkshire anti Lancashire Society- has consented'to provide an evening’s amusement in the form of a concert. Ail members and lady friends are cordially invited to be present. Good progress is being made with the erection pf the handsome new St. Andrew’s Church, on the old Manse site, at the corner of Childers Road and Cobden Street. It is. expected that the opening service will be teld on' October 5, when it is hoped that the preacher will be Dr. Gibb, of Wellington, said to be one of the most eloquent divines’'in the Dominion.
