A NAPIER DEPUTATION. [BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT! NAPIER, July 27. A deputation from the Teachers’ Institute waited upon the Mayor, Mr. Vigor Brown, M.P., yesterday, urging him to use his influence, to get the House to consider the increasing of teachers’ salaries. A statement was produced comparing teachers’ salaries with those of other Government servants, greatly to the detriment of the teachers. Mr. Brown expressed sympathy with the deputation, and said ho had never dreamt before seeing these comparisons, that the teachers] salaries were so low. He did not think the Minister for Education was conversant with tlio conditions' obtaining, and he advised the deputation to got other branches of the Institute to take united action and bring pressure to bear on M.P.’s before the Estimates were brought down.
