BANK OF ENGLAND RETURNS, SJIinVBD PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPTBItitiSj (Received Julv 25, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 25. The Bank of England returns show the stoek of gold, coin,, and bullion to bo £37,169,000; reserve £27,717,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 53.69 per cent. The notes in circulation total £29,460,000; public deposits £7,544,000; other deposits £40,051,000; Government securities £12,757,000; other securities £29,182,000. MONEY MARKET. The bank rate oB discount which last week was 4J per cent is unchanged. Short loans are discounted at 3 per cent, and three months bills as follows: London 4 per cent.; Paris 3| per cent; Berlin 4 1 per cent. CONSOLS AND COLONIAL STOCKS. Consols, which last week were at £72 15s, are quoted at £73. Following are the quotations for Colonial Government stocks, compared with those ruling a week previously :
Copper.-—Spot, £65 12s 6d: three months, £65 12s 6d; electrolytic, £67 15s. Tin.—Spot £lB5 15s; three months £lB5 10 s. Pig Iron. —sos 4d. Lead.—£2o los. Spelter.—£2o 15s. SUGAR. German. —Ss lid; first marks lls Dd. WOOL. At Bradford there is a Irtle rroie inquiry for wool. 64’s !9jd, super 29d ; common 60’s. 2S‘s 23*d ; 56’s 22§d; 50’s 20*d; 46’s 16|d ; 40’s ]s}d. WHEAT, FLOUR, ETC. Wheat is firm. Prices for Australian cargoes are unchanged. One sold at 375. For Australian spot the mar. ket is quiet. 39s 3d is offered. Flour is quiet and firm. La Plata July-August- shipment 16s 3d. Beans and peas are steady and unchanged. BUTTER AND CHEESE. Butter is quiet and prices are nominally unchanged. Supplies of choicest are exhausted and secondaries are very dull. Cheese is firm. New Zealand colored 65s ; white 66s to 66s 6d. Bacon is firm. Australian sides 703 to 745; flitches 66s to 68s. SHEEPSKIN SALES. At the sheep skins sales 6590 were offered and two-thirds were sold. There was a fair attendance and dragging competition. Merinos declined a half-penny as compared with June, and crossbreds combing declined jkl. clothing *d to lambs *d, and- pelts *d to |d.
