TAR SYSTEM OF ROAD SUB FACING.

COUNTY ENGINEER TO VISIT OTHER CENTRES.

The following notice of mocort stood opposite Cr. 'Williams’ name ors the order paper at the meeting, or the Cook County Council yesterday r ' 'That the Council definitely decide to adopt a tar system for surfacing the Gisborne-Makaraka road, and proceeds to collect all possible information with a view to deciding the best method to adopt.’’

When this was reached Cr. Williams asked leave to amend his motion materially. He said that there had not been time to collect inform tion on the subject. He then moved the following motion: “That the Engineer be instructed at the earliest possible moment to visit the various towns in the North Island where tar surfacing was being adopted, and procure ail necessary information.He thought by such a trip the Engineer could gain much first-hand information which would bo of much assistance to the Council.

The Chairman seconded the motion, stating that there was no doubt but tnat tar spraying was the corning method cr road construction. T:U any rase, Mr Fraser deserved a holiday, and if ho cou-d combine busim s< with pleasure on this trip ho would be doing lnmself .and the Council service. He thought Mr Fraser might arrange to get away for a good long holiday prior to the September meeting.
