MATAWHERO STOCK SALES.

, A GOOD DEMAND AND HIGH PRICES. FAT WETHERS REALISE 19/10. There was an exceptionally large attendance of buyers at the Matawhero stock sales yesterday, when there was again a keen demand for both sheep and cattle, and the good .prices which have been ruling for tho past couple of months were well maintained. SHEEP.

There was not ia large entry, but what was offered was of good l quality, and was easily disposed of. Messrs Williams and. Kettle made the following sales: 18 wethers 10s lOd, 18 wethers 17s 6d, 24 wethers 17s, 16 wethers 19s lOd, 19 wethers 19s lOd, 24 wethers 17s 3d, 3 ewes 15s 4d, 32 ewes 15s 6d. ■ Messrs Common, Shelton and Dalgety .and Co. submitted three pens, which realised the following prices: 4 ewes 15s, 10 ewes 17s 2d, 43 wethers 18s. STORE SHEEP. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. had not a large number forward, but most of the stock offering was of good quality. Hoggets showed a slight decline in price, but there was ia keen demand for ewes in lamb, which mado up to 15s Bd. The following were the principal sales: 142 empty ewes 9s lOd, 1200 hoggets 12s sd„ 78 hoggets 10s 4d, 42 woolly hoggets 12s lid, 43 owes in lamb 14s 2d, 214 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes in lamb 15s Id, 44 hoggets 7s 6d, 40 boggets 11s 9d, 21 hoggets 7s Bd, 26 ewes in lamb 15s Bd, 28 small hoggets 6s Id. . Messrs Williams and Kettle and the NVZ. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. - offered 2800 sheep. There was a good demand and satisfactory prices, owes in lamb fetching 17s 9d, hoggets 14s 4d, wethet's 16s, and empty ewes 13s 3d. Sales were made as follows

60 ew.es in lamb 10s 3<3, 75 mixed hoggets 7s 3d, 94 oivos in'lamb 13s 3d, 95 mixed hoggets 12s lid, 264 mixed hoggets 10s 6d. 150 mixed hoggets 10s 6d, 156 mixed hoggets 11s, 29 fat and forward ewes 14s, 51 empty ewes 7s lid, 42 ewes in lamb 10s 4d 200 hoggets 11s 10d, 32 ewes in lamb 8s id, 21 2tooth wethers 15s 6d, 24 hoggots 12s, 24 ewes in lamb 13s 9d, 89 hoggets 8s 9d, 60 ewes in lamb 13s 3d, 96 ewes in lamb 10s, 14 mixed hoggets 9s 6d, 44 ewes in lamb 9s lOd, 80 wethers' 16s, 306 hoggets 14s 4d, 295 ewes in Lamb 17s 9d. A fine line of 139 stud Romney 4 and 6-tooth ewes in lamb from Messrs McKenzie’s Bros.’ Ormond station were offered, but were passed in. at 20s. CATTLE. There was keen demand for fat cattle, and the small offering was soon disposed of. Messrs Williams andi Kettle and the Loan Company made the following sales: 1 steer £4 12s 6d, L bullock £7 17s 6d, 1 bullock £8 10s, 4 cows £5. 1 cow £5, 2 bullocks £8 ss, 3 bullocks. £7 18s.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and' Co. offered two pens, which sold as under : 2 cows £4 11s and 11 bullocks £7 ss. , There was not such a keen demand as usual for store cattle and a number of the- lines were passed. Mesrss Williams and Kettle and the N.Z. Loan Company sold as follows : 28 Polled Angus steers £3 2s 6d, 1 cow £2 10s, 33 18-month-old steers £3 13s 6d. 50 steers £4 Is, 21 old cows 31s, 6 heifers £3 ,10s, 18 steers £3 45,. 2 heifers £3 4s, 35 steers and heifers £2 8s 6d. 13 bullocks £4 10s, 15 steers £2 10s. 3 heifers £2 10s, G steers £4, 1 COW £7 10s, 1 cow £3 2s 6d. 3 calves 325. 50 steers £3 7s Cd, 55 mixed weaners £2 10s, 12 heifers £3 2s 6d, 15 emptv cows £3 17s 6d ? 14 Polled Angus cows £4 ss, 22 mixed weaners £2 ss, 11 Shorthorn heifers £3 ss. 11 heifers and steers £2 6s, 19 heifers and steers £3 15s, 10 steers £2 9s, 14 hoifers £2 11s, 17 mixed weaners £3 ss, 11 weaners £2 45,, 17 heifers m calf £3 ss, 6 steers £5, 14 Hereford heifers £2 15s. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. yarded about 330 head of cattle There was a good demand for grown steers, and 60 were sold. At from £5 15s to £7 ss, or an average of £6 ss. A nice line of 22 bullocks made £G. Young stock showed a drop of from 5s to 7s 6d on last sale. A line of 180 head of station weaners 'made from £2 16s to £3 3s. averaging £2 19s. Several lines of dairy stock were offered, but were not in "demand, and were passed Messrs Dalgety and Co. offered. 400 store cattle, and made sales as follows:—s cows £2 13s, 2 steers £3 2s Gd 3G 18-months (mixed) £3 2s Cel. 14 heifers £3 ss. 10 steers £4, 13 mixed yearlings £2 12s 6d. 13 steers £3 Is, 14 mixed yearlings £3 3s, 8 heifers £3 18s, 16 do £3. 10 heifers £2 l<s. / steers £3 7s, 14 heifers £3. o oahes 31s 5 weaners 30s. 3 weaners 38s. 10 heifers £2 10s, 20 weaner steers 30s, 4 steers £2 7s, 19 heifers £2.

PIGS. There was only a small yarding of piers which sold as follows; 15 wcaners 10s Gd, 5 porkers 28s 3d, 5 porkers 18s 6d.
