A THAMES TEA PARTY
HARANGUED BY SUFFRAGETTES “ASQUITH IS TO BLAME!” [UirmiD PEERS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT" [SYDNEY SDN SPECIAL CA«BLE.] ( Received July 24, 7.40 p.m.) LONDON. July 24. While a party of members of the House of Commons were having tea with 200 guests on.the terrace of the House of overlooking the Thames a launch filled with suffragettes approached the terrace and harangued the gathering for half-an-hour while the guests at the tea tables listened. On a police boat approaching the suffragettes threw literature on to the terrace and steamed off.
A house at Birmingham was damaged by firb and a message was left as follows “Asquith is to blame! Release Mrs Pankhurst!” The members of the Pharmaceutical Society were not allowed access to Windsor Castle unless they signed a declaration that they were not connected with the suffragettes.
