FOOTBALL. RUGBY. RUKINGI JOINS THE MAORI TEAM. Young Wliaro Rukingi, tho' promising Maori player left yesterday for Rotorua, his father having sent telegraphic consent for Wliaro to join the New Zealand. Native team •which is - about to leave on a tour of Australia. While Rukingi’s departure will be a • serious temporary loss to the Y.M.T. team, it is pleasing to note his departure will mean the best will be developed in this remarkable young player who shows promise of great things. Tho Maori touring team defeated Rotorua, by 11 to 9. In the first spell the game was 6 all, hut in tho .second the Maoris, although not playing as well as the Roforua backs, showed better football combination.
