TO LOG A BAY. [rilOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT) TOLOGA BAY, May 26. The seventh annual bail was held on Friday night. The attendance was very small compared with other years, only about 110 people being present. From a- dancing point, of view there was just a nice number, but it did not .seem to be the animal public function of the year. The stage was tastefully arranged as a, dancing room, and tho only decorations in the hall wore flags suspended from the- rafters. 'Flic music iyns supplied by the Lockwood Bros., and Mr Moore, and was greattly appreciated. The catering was all that could be desired, Mr. A. F. Woottom providing a supper that pleased everybody. The secretaries, Messrs Donald and Date, and the M’s.C. (Messrs C-olebreok and Guthrie) were most assiduous in the carrying out of their respective duties, and the verdict of all was that it was a very enjoyable function ii not as large as usual. “

Wo have, been reaping the benefit of the footpaths, and it is to be hoped that now the Progress Committee have fixed a date for meeting on the first Monday of .every 'month, that this will bo only one' of many improvements in the. township. Tho Rev. O: J. Kimberly is duo here on Monday night, when ho will give a lantern lecture on foreign lands. The proceeds arc to be given to the Church Missionary Society Fund. The monthly -mooting of the C.E.M.S. will ho hold at the Vicarage on Friday evening, when a paper will be read, and discussed on the “Observance of Sunday.” Football does not seem to he taking on this year. Nothing has been done in regard to fixtures for the season at'all as yet. The dairying season is practically over, and the factory will he closing down shortly. The country looks very green, but there is not much feed for wintering stock, Mr. G. P. Oolbott has been enterprising in getting a threshing plant, and is kept fully employed chaff cut--ting in and around the district. Influenza has been holding sway everywhere, and has made no distinction, everyone being subjected to it. The first Bible class meeting was held at the Vicarage last Tuesday evening, when the subject of charity was discussed. There wa.s a large attendance. , , The local brass band-are keeping, up tlveir weekly practices.
