ENTERTAINMENTS.
RATHE PICTURES. The new series of moving pictures to be presented at His Majesty’s Theatre this evening fairly bristles with subjects of extraordinary merit and the programme, with the addition of special orchestral music, must prove highly acceptable to the many patrons who make the popular theatre their rendezvous. In the forefront is a thrilling story of military intrigue, entitled “For Their Country,” featuring the favorite Continental actress Saharet, in the leading role. An officer in a Continental army determines to procure copies of fortification' plans of a neighboring Power. With the aid of his sweetheart lie succeeds, hut only after”the most stirring series of events. The play is most lavishly mounted, the ball-room scene being especially effective. ' The environment of the story is amidst scenes of gorgeous splendor, and the plot is portrayed bv a most capable company of Continental artists. Supporting dramas- are “An Affair at Raynor’s” and “The A wakening of Bianco,” both of which have received .highly complimentary, notices from the press so far. An Australian Gazette will be shown, and two seenics which are claimed to be marked for their photographic splendor, entitled “Excursion on Marzella Bailway,” and “Arabian Manners and Customs.” Coinedv of a wholesome nature are “Dupiu Visits Marseilles,” and “Liberty Hall,” and “Ftmnious’s Serenade.” The..series can. safely bo recommended as one of unusual merit.
